Boston Avid Users Group

The Boston Avid User Group (BAVUG) is a community of Avid professionals, students and enthusiasts from the New England area who meet monthly to share positive experiences and concerns to learn new skills relating to Avid solutions and related technology.

The BAVUG acknowledges Avid's influential contributions to digital filmmaking and provides opportunities for members to remain on the cutting edge of this revolution. BAVUG is committed to advancing professional growth in the field of digital editing. Guest speakers from the creative and technical communities share their expertise by showcasing new solutions, case studies and completed projects. All presentations include time for members' questions. The meetings also provide a networking opportunity for members.

The BAVUG meetings are open to anyone with an interest in digital media, nonlinear editing, motion graphics, filmmaking and multimedia production using Avid and related solutions. We always request that people pre-register for an event if they plan to attend as it helps us estimate how many seats are required and ensures we'll have enough food/drinks for everyone.  We also may ask for a donation at the time of pre-registration.  Non-registered attendees are always welcome, but may be charged $3 at the door.  Official Members and Employees of our Sponsors are exempt from the door charge.

At each monthly meeting, industry leaders and enthusiasts will present different aspects of digital production and post production. Meetings are informal and attendees are given the opportunity to ask questions related to the presentations. Many meetings will also feature product giveaways. The BAVUG meetings are an ideal place to network with peers and to share editing experiences both good and bad.

The Boston Avid User Group has been in existence since 2004. The group began holding monthly meetings in February 2005. The meetings happen the second Wednesday of each month, at 6:30 pm, with the exception of the months of April, July and December. Occasionally the date, time and location may change so please check the site for updated meeting information.

If you are on our mailing list, you will be notified of the meeting date, topics and location. If you aren't on our mailing list, you can join now.
